Description
A Tibetan Buddhist monk sits cross legged as he silently meditates amongst the ruins of the old monastery at the holy site in Sarnath, India. This sole character had such an aura of calmness and solitude I couldn't resist capturing him in his moment of devotion in such a holy place to of the Buddha. resplendent in his vibrant red and yellow robes, he meditated like this for six hours without moving, only silently whispering mantras. This image has been manipulated so that the monk remains vibrantly coloured whilst the background is desaturated and the clarity reduced. This effect makes the subject stand out much more and seems appropriate for the message of the image being conveyed: refuge in focusing and solitude of the spirit.
