The Zugspitze, on the border of Austria and Germany, is the highest mountain within Germany sitting at 2,962 metres above sea level. Climbing this mountain, either by trekking or climbing one of its sheers faces, is steeped in challenges and exhausting moments. However, to climb this mountain is akin to overcoming great adversity and the views from the top of this part of the world are staggeringly beautiful.
This photo was taken of a rock climber who had just reached the top of the peak of the Zugspitze following a harrowing ascent. This is his moment as he drinks in the views that are his reward and reflects on what he has accomplished. I hope it serves as an inspiration and motivation to many that overcoming adversity is immensely rewarding.
